Frosty the bail bondsman
By Lee Bonorden (Contact) | Austin Daily Herald Where to begin? Dangerous dogs and dog owners? Christmas carols and crime? Even though no one has asked me to do so, I’d like to weigh-in on the dangerous dog controversy in Austin. First, it originated at 1603 Fourth Ave. N.W. Newspapers (both this one and the other) publish accounts, when a woman complained to the Austin City Council and mayor about her, her children, and their dog being attacked. Despite, numerous, complaints to the Austin Police Department, identifying the address and eye witness account of two pit bulls residing — when not running loose — at that residence, the newspapers left open to speculation where the pit bulls were terrorizing an Austin neighborhood. My advice: invite the Fourth Avenue Northwest pit bull owners and any other dangerous dog owners to the next city council meeting. That way the entire community would learn where they should avoid walking or allowing children and small pets to be outside. Naturally, the city council and mayor would listen to the dog owners while the closed circuit television cameras recorded the scene. Afterward, it would be referred to a council work session and assigned to a committee and placed on the list of matters-at-hand. Eventually, it would be forgotten until the next incident. Sadly, this particular controversy includes a first hand account that a man may have died because of stress caused by his neighbors and their dogs. Now, let’s all sing and pay taxes! Despite attempts to keep it a secret, sources say the Mower County Commissioners have gone into the recording studio. They are making a CD to sell to help pay for the new $29 million jail and justice center under construction in downtown Austin. A CD release party will be held later this year. Early tracks include: “Oh, Come All Ye Felons,” “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed DWI Offender,” “Frosty, the Bail Bondsman,” and “I’ll Have a Blue Christmas Without My Appeal.” Watch for “The County Board Sings Holiday Favorites” on sale at Bonnie’s Hallmark. |
