Bonding company files another appeal

A bonding company has filed notice they intend to appeal a judge's recent decision that they should be responsible for paying a $60,000 bond that was ordered forfeited last year.

It is the second appeal in an effort to keep from paying money meant to secure the appearance of suspected drug dealer-turned-bank robber Patrick Slider, of Little Hocking.

The first appeal questioned whether Washington County Common Pleas Judge Ed Lane acted properly and within his right when he ordered the bond forfeited. Ohio's 4th District Court of Appeals ruled Lane was correct in his forfeiture ruling.

The specifics of the latest appeal have yet to be filed, but could relate to who should be held liable - the bonding agent, Rick Mayle, or his company, A-1 Bail Bonds and its insurer.
